Pinterest is one of the newest additions to the social media scene. Powered by visual pinboards, this network allows users to collect their favorite images, videos, articles and more from the Internet. Pinterest provides Internet users a unique way to share the fascinating, beautiful and unusual pictures they find online.
The network opened its online doors in March of 2010. The website’s founders include Paul Sciarra, Evan Sharp, and Ben Silbermann. The website originally operated with an invite-only model, but registration is now open to everyone. In recent months, Pinterest’s popularity has exploded with a growing audience of new users.
